Healthy teeth and healthy gums are important for good oral health. Brushing teeth after eating and daily flossing can help prevent cavities, gum disease, and bad breath. Your dentist can assess toothaches, mouth injuries, and wisdom teeth to see if they need dental care. Ask your dentist about teeth-whitening products to make sure they are right for you.

Choosing your personal dentist may mean that you may have to pay high premiums. Choose basic dental coverage that covers scaling and polishing, root canal treatments, gum disease problems, dentures, bridges and crowns. Do not opt for a plan that includes cosmetic

treatments,orthodontic works and sports injuries unless you know you will need these treatments. Imagine how your teeth would look and feel if you did not brush them daily.  The same applies to your cat's teeth.  Unless you are providing some form of dental care regularly, you are neglecting an important factor in the overall health of your cat.

Children's Dental Health

   The Pew Center on the States is launching a major effort to improve access to dental care for disadvantaged children. Oral health should be better integrated with general health care, especially since children are far more likely to see a doctor than a dentist before their third

birthday.By the time your child is 6 months of age, your doctor should assess the likelihood ofyour child having future dental problems.Once your child's teeth begin erupting, you can begin cleaning them by wiping them with a moist washcloth. As your child gets more teeth, you can begin to use a soft child's toothbrush. 

TIPS

1. Brush twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste, especially before bed
2. Brush your teeth and gums with a toothbrush that has soft bristles and a small head
3. Clean between your teeth every day with floss, dental woodsticks or an interdental brush
4.During each brushing you should remember to brush your tongue with a toothbrush or for an even more effective solution, remover bacteria from your tongue with one of several commercially available tongue cleaners.
